WAITalk by WAI Malaysia: Breaking down the written words with AI
Can AI understand humans?
Women in Artificial Intelligence or WAI is a nonprofit do-tank working towards gender-inclusive AI that benefits global society. Our mission is to increase female representation and participation in AI. We are a community-driven initiative bringing empowerment, knowledge, and active collaboration via education, research, events, and blogging. We believe in the power of community based on mutual support, caring and sharing to bring awareness, inspire, and educate the next generations.
Can AI understand humans? Will AI mean the end of social interaction? The fact that language and creativity are considered fundamental features of human intelligence. They pose a significant challenge to artificial systems. However, in recent years, the success of deep and recurrent neural networks has revolutionized artificial intelligence. Old-fashioned, rule-based machine learning systems were replaced by neural networks that learn through experience and mimic qualities of the human mind.
Come and join us for the second talks of "Breaking Down the Written Words with AI” - to explore more about chatbots and virtual assistants. As A.I. systems have entered everyday life and the realm of human language. The question triggered whether can A.I. really understand a word’s meaning? Is it able to grasp the context of a phrase and creatively form new sentences? If so, what should we teach it?
By exploring the answers to these questions, we might not only learn about A.I. but also about ourselves. Two experts in the field of language and A.I. will present their current work in the short talks.
